It's too easy to
focus on clinical details and obsess over things like sharpness. I'm
often guilty of this. Seeing the sunflower in our yard inspired me to
be a little more creative and do something different. Here I'm using a
slow shutter and wide aperture in the middle of the day to get a little
motion blur on the sunflower. Since it's the middle of the day the
spotty sunlight is a bit more dramatic than I'd get shooting this late
in the evening. To get the slow shutter and wide aperture in bright
light I used a
Fader
ND Mark II. Basically it's just two polarizers stacked together in
a nice package that can block adjustable blocks of light.
