It's no surprise to me that the Nikon D600 is going to be $2,100. Not
super cheap, but a good price for a full frame camera. For absolute
photo enthusiasts I believe it will be a hard choice between the D700,
which appears to be more robust in construction and have better
controls, or the higher mp and video abilities of the D600. I'd expect
the D700 used values to drop even more with this announcement. To me
this is the nail in the coffin of the $2,800 Sony A99 which uses the
same sensor and has almost identical specifications, without nearly the
lens options. To lure in buyers it would have to match the D600 in
price and have superior specifications.
