Sahalie Falls on the McKenzie
River in Oregon, USA was first run by Shannon Carroll in 1998, setting
a new world record at 78 feet. This is not just a big clean waterfall.
It has a tricky entrance move, shallow landing on one side and a class
V rapid downstream. It's scary and there is a lot to deal with, seeing
the falls in person really makes one appreciate the extra challenge of
the first descent. Fourteen years later it's still a bold move and Dave
