It's too easy to obsess over
having the best camera gear and all the angles covered. Thus the
popularity of Nikon's modern holy trinity zoom set, the 14-24mm f/2.8,
24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8. This year I'm hoping to go in a
different direction. Character; also known as flaws. Some find them
enduring, others like a modern clinical look. I'm still on the fence.
Perhaps a more classic old school trinity would be a 35mm, 50mm and
105mm, but I do like to go a bit wider then that. Amazingly enough,
adjusted for inflation this prime set would have run somewhere from
$2,000-3,000. Thankfully in todays market they are not in style and
averaged about $100 each.
